NorthTexasCycling.orgFar from being a homogenous culture, cycling offers almost limitless opportunities for individuals of all ages and athletic abilities. No other sport can claim such an eclectic constituency. It's this unique blend of diversity and opportunity for participation that led us to create this virtual meeting place. Our hope is that this space will provide opportunities for like-minded cyclists to interact, educate, and connect with one another. Hopefully, if we've gotten the formula right, North Texas Cycling (NTC) will serve as the preeminent road map and competitive DMZ to the local cycling scene.
North TexasAs the third largest city in the United States and with a population fast approaching 6 million residents, Dallas/Fort Worth could be described as nothing less than an urban jungle. Few could ever imagine that such a large metropolis could ever support a strong cycling community, but it does!
Scenic roads through surrounding lakes and state parks, miles of public greenbelts, and municipal trail systems, offer residents a mix of urban living with rural trekking. Such unique geographic amenities have facilitated the foundation of numerous clubs, racing teams, and several elite national Division I squads. The sheer volume and interest in the sport at the local level has resulted in more racing opportunities per capita than anywhere else in the state. Not surprisingly, the nation's two largest bicycle retailers are situated in the heart of Dallas/Fort Worth. These attributes, combined with cyclist friendly municipalities, make North Texas a unique place for lycra clad pedal powered enthusiasts—and that's why we're here.
The World Famous Dallas CowboysAs a non profit organization dedicated to sport and driven to prevent chronic disease, North Texas Cycling is proud to announce its members will be competing under the colors of the world famous Dallas Cowboy professional football club. Designed and approved by the Cowboy organization itself, NTC will symbolize something that is internationally iconic, yet culturally unique to our region. No other organization has ever been afforded a similar opportunity. Consequently, the NTC is excited and eagerly anticipating the challenges and opportunities that are certain to lie ahead!
